Environmental Movements
Dear Students,
After studying different environmental issues,
it's time for you to find an environmental cause that interests you.
Below there is a list of web sites that you may peruse.
You may also do a search for other environmental causes that you find important.
1. Competency 1: Interprets a Contemporary World Problem
- Identify actors, facts, and context -
You need to write a detailed report on an environmental
group and their campaign,
answering the basic questions:
who, what, where, how, why, when (timeline/goals and history).
Most of this information can be found on
their web sites, but a check of other online sources
such as Wikipedia may offer other perspectives.
100 words minimum, full sentences.
No copying and pasting. Must be in your own words.
2. Competency 2: Take a position on a contemporary issue
- Considers opportunities for social action -
Write your opinion on the cause. Here are some sample questions you may answer.
-Do you agree with the cause? Why or why not?
-Would you like to take action by signing an online petition?
-What do you not quite understand about the campaign?
- Do you have any solutions in mind that could help the campaign?
-How does it relate to you as a citizen?
-How could you change your daily activities to help support the cause?
100 words minimum.

You have time in class on Monday october 19th to work on this.
Your assignment is due by Sunday October 25th
before you go to bed (as in, Monday morning).

exercise of these principles leads to the health of people, societies, and ecosystems.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is an
international organization dedicated to natural resource conservation.
Founded in 1948, its headquarters is located in the Lake Geneva area in Gland, Switzerland.
The IUCN brings together 83 states, 108 government agencies, 766 Non-governmental organizations
and 81 international organizations and about 10,000 experts and scientists from countries around the world.
